We believe the Lord Jesus has commanded us to not only preach, but embody the Good News. That’s why, we want to share the love of Christ with our neighbors in the Fillmore and surrounding neighborhoods. We desire to see people and places transformed by the advancement of the Gospel in our own lives, community, culture, and world.
Listed below are our current efforts. For more information or any general inquiries, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Next Door Shelter
As part of our outreach efforts, Radiance partners with Next Door Shelter, a homeless shelter serving ~200 single men and women in the Tenderloin neighborhood of San Francisco. We serve meals and sit with residents during two consecutive services on the third Saturday of each month. We clean up after the second service and get dinner as a group afterward to fellowship and debrief.
The experience is extremely rewarding and humbling, and the residents always have insightful stories to share. Many of the residents remember our returning volunteers and enjoy the cookies we bring. We are always looking for new participants, so if you’re interested, please email Mike Foster (email@example.com) or add your information to our monthly sign up doc.
Little Brothers of San Francisco
Currently, we are partnering with Little Brothers of San Francisco to visit and bring care packages to some of our elderly neighbors in the Western Addition, many of whom live without many family or friends in the area. We hope to bring friendship, ministry, and care through these visits. Look for these events about once a month.
Throughout the year we host dinner events for the elderly in our neighborhood! As many of these elders do not have many friends or family, and rarely get to go out, this has become a popular and fun event for them! You can participate either by helping prepare food or just dining and hanging out. If you’d like to join, contact us here.
Can you spare an hour (10:30-11:30 a.m.) to teach kids how to read (Kindergarten~3rd grade) at the Western Addition Library for two Saturdays a month? Then join the Growing Readers volunteer team! No prior teaching experience is required, just a heart to serve with love and a willingness to pray. (And a fingerprint background check.)
We strive to meet a wide range of needs for kids living in the local area: kids reading above grade level and/or kids with special needs, kids learning English as a second language, kids who love to read as well as reluctant readers. Come help meet a big need in the community, build caring relationships with local families, and be a light! Contact Hanna Chung.
